Malcolm Taylor, English Cello bow, c.1991
A practically mint condition cello bow by this celebrated English bow maker. The bow has been played professionally, both in performance and in teaching since first commissioned. It comprises an octagonal pernambuco stick with silver mounted ebony frog which is decorated with Parisienne Eyes; it weighs 80gm.
Malcolm Taylor apprenticed at W.E. Hill & Sons in London, before completing military service then returning to Hills in 1956. He took over a senior role in the Hill workshop in 1962 and remained there until 1973 when he left to open his own successful bow making workshop.
This fine example of his work would be suitable for the advancing student, dedicated amateur or young professional player.
